Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno State chapter, Bishop Mohammed Naga, has debunked allegations that many christian communities have been marginalized in the on-going reconstruction work of destroyed churches by government of Governor Kashim Shettima. Briefing newsmen in his office, CAN centre, Maiduguri, at the week end, the Bishop, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Committee set up by the governor to reconstruct destroyed churches due to activities of Boko Haram in southern senatorial district of the state, said, none of the christian communities will be marginalized in the reconstruction effort as claimed by some groups in Damboa Local Government Area. Earlier, Brother Simon Ularju who is Chairman of Christian Forum in Damboa, who led other members on a courtesy call on the CAN Chairman recently alleged that, “communities of Kopchi, Izgeki, Kauji, Bdagu, Yazza, Shawa, Kuburvu, Kwanjilari and other villages on the fringes of Sambisa forest, whose churches were all razed including their residential houses were denied their rights by the committee to be enlisted in the reconstruction effort”. But Naga said, Governor Kashim Shettima is committed to the plights of Christians in the state, hence the setting up of a high powered committee to reconstruct all destroyed churches across the state, which, according to him, will be done in phases as the security situation improved.
