Abia Police Kill 2 Robbery Suspects, Recover Arms, Ammunition

By Anayo Okoli ABA—Two robbery suspects that attacked a
popular filling station in Ovom, Ogbor Hill area of
Aba, Abia State, were shot dead on Easter Sunday
while escaping from a robbery scene. Nigerian Police Vanguard learned that the incident took place
around 4 pm at one Dan Dollars Petrol Station. It
was gathered that the robbers, who were heavily
armed, invaded the station and carted away huge
sums of money after which they escaped through
Eziukwu Road by Railway in Aba. Eyewitnesses said patrol team attached to
Ndiegoro and Central Police Station, Aba led by
the Divisional Police Officer Ndiegoro and
Commander of the newly inaugurated Tactical
Response Squad, TRS, of the command, swung
into action and intercepted the hoodlums. The hoodlums opened fire on sighting the patrol
team and in the ensuing gun battle, two of them
were gunned down and one identified as
Ugochukwu Emeka Uche was arrested. Two Toyota vehicles, SUV with number plate DR
413 ENU and Corolla Saloon car with number plate
EPE 568 EM snatched from one David Gobble of
Ogbor-Hill Aba were recovered. Other items
recovered included three locally made shotguns,
live and expended cartridges, nine GSM phones, one wristwatch, one national ID card bearing
Uzoefuna Ifechi Kingsley, two wedding rings and
cash sum of N65,020. Confirming the incident, Abia State police
Spokesman, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, said
investigation had commenced towards arresting
the fleeing members of the gang.
