FULHAM VS NORWICH PREDICTIONS

This is arguably the pick of the opening weekend games in the Championship. It features Fulham, who made the play-offs last year and are expected to go well again, up against a Norwich side who are also seen as promotion contenders and will be hoping for a big improvement on last term. Both sides are known for attacking football and this match promises to deliver lots of goals. Fulham and Norwich were the joint highest scorers in the Championship last season, averaging 1.85 goals scored per game. The fact they only managed 6th and 8th place finishes respectively, points to the fact that they were less than solid at the other end. Norwich were particularly bad, conceding 1.5 per game on average and their defence was regularly ripped to shreds on the road. Sorting the defence out will be Daniel Farke’s first priority as he takes charge of the Canaries. It’s a bold appointment, given the 40 year old has never played or coached outside of the lower leagues in Germany and it’ll be fascinating to see how it goes with Norwich fans no doubt hoping he can replicate David Wagner’s achievements at Huddersfield. Fulham though will think they can really get stuck into this Norwich defence. They’ve had a good summer, sealing new contracts for a number of key players including Tom Cairney, who is now their captain. He was one of the stars of last season in the Championship with 13 goals from midfield and backing Cairney to score anytime here looks like it could be worth a punt, given Norwich’s defensive problems. The Canaries will ask questions of their own though and it’s worth noting that prior to the play-offs, both teams scored in all of Fulham’s final 7 league games. It’s pretty clear that both sides are more comfortable going forward and backing Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score at 21/20 could be one of the bets of the weekend.
