Association of Nigeria, HIMAN, weekend, called on
the Federal Government to pay more attention to
quality information management as it will help it to
develop reliable national health policies, tackle
disease outbreaks like meningitis and deliver healthcare services to Nigerians. National President of the association, Mr. Wole
Ajayi, stated this during an advocacy/sensitization
meeting of the South-East geopolitical zone of
professionals with National Executive Council
delegates of HIMAN at Federal Teaching Hospital,
Abakaliki. Ajayi stated that lack of available medical data and
quality information had made both the state and
Federal governments, including health-based
organizations in the country, to base their health
findings on speculations. A child being immunised against mennigitis He said the consequences of such development
had equally made the government not to be able
to come up with programmes that have direct
bearing on the lives of Nigerians, in terms of
providing health facilities and other medical
services at the right time and place. The National President further added that quality
health information management will not only help
government to plan, control, monitor and
implement therapeutic intervention programmes
but also assist government at all levels to carry out
evidence-based decisions needed for effective healthcare delivery. According to him, the purpose of the meeting was
for the sensitization of members concerning its
forthcoming convention holding in Oyo State
between April 24 and 26 with the theme “Inspire to
know.” According to him, the programme will assist
members, including the Federal Government to
discover how the integration of national health
policy could help improve the health system in the
country. Army holds awareness seminar Meanwhile, the 82 Division of Nigerian Army
Hospital, Enugu has organized a one-day
sensitization and awareness lecture on meningitis to
enlighten the people of the dreaded disease. Held at the Mammy Market area in Abakpa Military
Cantonment, the lecture also focused on other
sicknesses such as sickle cell anemia and
gastroenteritis.
