PIB Jinx: Successful Leadership Matters A Great Deal – Sen. Alasoadura

The Chairman Senate Committee on Petroleum
Resources (Upstream), Senator Tayo Alasoadura
has attributed the successful laying of the
Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB) report
to the determination and dedication on the part of
everyone involved since the committee was inaugurated. Senator Alasoadura disclosed that, Senate
President, Dr. Bukola Saraki told him at the
beginning of the 8th Senate that he was
determined to break the PIB Jinx, as it remains one
his strong passion and consultant were contacted
to meet with different stakeholders to ensure everyone’s interest was captured. PIB Jinx, Successful Leadership Matters A Great
Deal: Sen Tayo Alasoadura, “Saraki was the one that set up the consultancy
outfit that started the work on this PIGB we have
today. As soon as they worked to large extent, the
Senate President brought me in for the consultant
to brief me on how far they had gone, and we
took it up from there” said Alasoadura. The Senator representing Ondo Central stated
further that to avoid the mistake made by previous
Senate Assemblies on the passage of the PIGB, the
two arms of government (Legislature and
Executive), took ownership of the bill from the
beginning and it came to a stage where the two committees met and almost became one, trying to
agree on the clause by clause deliberations on the
Bill.
